An amazing piece of technology. It rotates 360 degrees spraying the space with infrared to create a wireframe of the shapes and dimensions, while at the same time photographing the objects to capture the surfaces, textures and colors. This process is repeated until the whole space has been captured.
Just like owning a camera does not necessarily make you a photographer, there is quite a bit of technique and creative license in planning and executing a 3D Showcase. We blend years of experience in graphic arts, photography and video with this amazing technology and the result is the world’s most immersive virtual and visual experience.
To paraphrase Matterport Co-founder Matt Bell… the Camera captures around 10 million 3D points per second and 'madly' stitches them together as it spins around. The data and images from each scan spot are sent to the iPad which assembles the "puzzle" and uploads the data to the Matterport Cloud for the heavy lifting.
